Authorship records who is responsible for a piece of research. Jurnal Maksipreneur: Manajemen, Koperasi, dan Entrepreneurship (JMP) applies the ICMJE criteria, adapted for management and business research, together with the CRediT taxonomy.
An author is a person who meets all four of the following conditions.
A person who meets fewer than all four criteria should be named in the Acknowledgement instead, with their permission.
| Practice | Description |
|---|---|
| Gift or honorary authorship | Naming a person because of their seniority, position, or funding role rather than their contribution. |
| Guest authorship | Adding a well-known name to increase the chance of acceptance. |
| Ghost authorship | Omitting someone who meets the criteria, including a paid writer or analyst. |
| Purchased authorship | Buying or selling a place in the author list, or using a paper mill. This is treated as research misconduct. |
| AI authorship | Listing a generative AI tool as an author or co-author. |
Every manuscript must include an Author Contributions section using CRediT roles: Conceptualization; Methodology; Software; Validation; Formal analysis; Investigation; Resources; Data curation; Writing - original draft; Writing - review & editing; Visualization; Supervision; Project administration; Funding acquisition. One line per author.
The order of authors is decided by the authors themselves and should reflect their relative contributions. The journal does not arbitrate on order. The corresponding author manages communication with the journal, confirms that all co-authors have approved the submission, holds the signed consent of all co-authors for any change, and remains available after publication to respond to questions about the work.
Any addition, removal, or reordering of authors requires a written request to the Editor-in-Chief stating the reason, together with written confirmation from every author, including the one being added or removed.
Where authors cannot agree, the journal does not adjudicate. The matter is referred to the authors' institutions under COPE guidance, and the article remains unchanged until the institutions report an outcome. A submission under dispute is held, not reviewed.
An author who dies before publication remains in the author list, with a footnote recording this. An author who changes their name may ask for it to be updated discreetly, without a public notice, and the journal will update the article record and Crossref metadata.
Articles derived from a thesis or dissertation are welcome. The student is normally the first author where the work is substantially theirs. Supervisors qualify as authors only if they meet all four criteria; routine supervision alone belongs in the Acknowledgements. The article should state that it draws on a thesis and cite it.
