Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Language Submissions must be written in either Indonesian or English.
  • Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • The recommended length for articles is between 6,000 and 10,000 words, including footnotes. Book reviews should not exceed 1,500 words.
  • The document should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.
  • To facilitate the double-blind review process, authors must ensure the manuscript is completely anonymized. Do not include any identifying information (names, affiliations, or any self-citations that could reveal the author's identity) in the main body of the text. This information should be provided separately in the cover letter.

Author Guidelines

1. General Guidelines

  • Language: Submissions must be written in either Indonesian or English.
  • Originality: Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Length: The recommended length for articles is between 6,000 and 10,000 words, including footnotes. Book reviews should not exceed 1,500 words.
  • Format: The document should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.
  • Anonymity: To facilitate the double-blind review process, authors must ensure the manuscript is completely anonymized. Do not include any identifying information (names, affiliations, or any self-citations that could reveal the author's identity) in the main body of the text. This information should be provided separately in the cover letter

2. Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should be structured in the following order:

  • Title: Concise and informative.
  • Abstract: A single paragraph of no more than 250 words summarizing the main arguments, findings, and conclusions.
  • Keywords: 3 to 5 keywords that accurately reflect the content of the article.
  • Introduction: Provides the background, problem statement, research questions, and the thesis of the article.
  • Body of the Article: This section contains the main arguments, analysis, and discussion, divided into logical subheadings.
  • Conclusion: Summarizes the key findings and contributions of the article, and may suggest avenues for future research.
  • Bibliography: A list of all cited sources.

3. Formatting

  • Font and Spacing: Use Palatino Linotype, size 12. The entire document should be 1,5 spaced, before-after 0 (except Abstract).
  • Headings: Use a clear and consistent heading style.
    • Level 1 Heading: Bold, centered, all caps (e.g., INTRODUCTION).
    • Level 2 Heading: Bold, left-aligned (e.g., Criminal Procedural Law).
    • Level 3 Heading: Italicized, left-aligned (e.g., The Role of Evidence).
  • Citations: Veritas Procedura uses a footnote-based citation style similar to the Harvard Bluebook or OSCOLA (Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities), adapted for local Indonesian legal sources. All citations must be placed in footnotes, not in-text

4. Footnote and Citation Rules

4.1. Books

  • Format: Author's Name, Title of Book (Publisher, Year), page number(s).
  • Example: John P. Smith, The Art of Litigation (Oxford University Press, 2022), 45.

4.2. Journal Articles

  • Format: Author's Name, 'Title of Article', Journal Name Volume(Issue) (Year), page number(s).
  • Example: Jane Doe, 'Judicial Review in Administrative Law', Veritas Procedura 1(1) (2024), 21.

4.3. Legislation

  • Format (Indonesian): Nama Undang-Undang, Nomor Tahun, Pasal.
  • Example: Undang-Undang Nomor 8 Tahun 1981 tentang Hukum Acara Pidana, Pasal 1.
  • Format (International): Title of Act [Year] (Citation).
  • Example: The Civil Procedure Act 1997 (UK).

4.4. Case Law

  • Format (Indonesian): Jenis Pengadilan dan Nomor Putusan, Nama Pihak (jika tersedia), Tanggal Putusan.
  • Example: Putusan Mahkamah Agung RI Nomor 123 K/Pid/2023, 10 Januari 2024.
  • Format (International): Case Name [Year] Volume Reporter Page, Court.
  • Example: R v. Smith [2020] 1 AC 101, Supreme Court.

4.5. Online Sources

  • Format: Author's Name, 'Title of Webpage/Article', Website Name (Date of Publication), <URL> (accessed Date of Access).
  • Example: Michael Brown, 'The Evolution of E-Courts', LegalTech Blog (2023), www.legaltechblog.com/e-courts (accessed 15 August 2024).

4.6. Subsequent Citations

  • Use "ibid." for the same source as the immediately preceding footnote.
  • Use "supra note" with the author's last name and original footnote number for a previously cited source (e.g., Smith, supra note 1, at 50).

5. Submission Process

  • Authors must submit their manuscripts electronically via the journal's Online Journal System (OJS) at [insert OJS link here].
  • A separate cover letter should include the author's full name, affiliation, email address, and a statement confirming that the manuscript is original and has not been submitted elsewhere.
  • Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines will be returned to the author for revision before entering the review process.
